Artistic Director

Cameron has been working in theatre and drama in education for 30 years. In this time he has taught at all levels of education, been involved in curriculum research and design and has acted in and directed numerous plays and commercial work. Cameron has worked in Australia and the USA teaching and directing for professional Theatre Companies and Universities. For the last eighteen years Cameron has developed a unique course of study for Hagley Theatre Company where he is currently Artistic Director.

Cameron is also the Company's Head of Acting and tutors Stage Direction.

 

Darryl Low  Dip.PerfArts
Associate Artistic Director / Physical Theatre

Following three years training with the Company Darryl joined us in 2002 as the Associate Artistic Director. He completed a tour of the USA with the California Theatre Center in 2001, returning to complete his internship in Directing. Darryl directs many of our public seasons, is heavily involved with our part time practical classes and is Creative Director for StageOne, our programme dedicated to youth. In addition to working for us Darryl is also the Arts CoOrdinator for Hagley College.

Sheryl Robinson 
Dance/Choreography

Sheryl has been working as a freelance teacher, choreographer and performer since graduating from the New Zealand School of Dance in 1989. She has over 12 years experience in teaching dance to all sectors of the community from beginners through to professional performers. Sheryl brings her interest in all forms of dance and body work into classes, including contemporary , ballet, yoga and pilates. A very sought after tutor who has worked at a number of Christchurch schools Sheryl is a National Moderator for Dance (NZQA), assisting with the development of Dance as a mainstream subject in secondary education.

Sheryl is also a highly respected performer and in 2000 she founded the Hagley Dance Company, a fulltime dance programme at Hagley College.

 

Wendy Lahy-Neary  BA (Hons)   PGCE   MA   DipC
Performance Studies / World Theatre

Wendy is the Head of Drama for Hagley College and, together with her husband runs the tank driving experience Tanks for Everything

Wendy completed her extensive qualifications in England with Manchester University, Bedford College and Liverpool University. As a performer she has appeared at The Green Room, The Crucible Theatre and completed a tour of Europe. Her teaching career has taken her to the United Kingdom, USA, Thailand and of course New Zealand.

Tony McCaffrey 
Playwriting

Tony has taught drama/theatre in the U.K., written and adapted for the stage, directed and acted in London, Denver, Paris, Istanbul and Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington.

Currently teaching with the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Arts (NASDA) Tony often directs for the Company and tutors our students in Playwriting.

 

Lauren Lincoln  Bachelor Performing Arts
Voice

Our most recent addition to staff, Lauren completed her Bachelor of Performing Arts with NASDA (National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art) in 2006. She has a long list of stage credits and has completed further study in voice with Trinity College (Performers Certificate) and is also accomplished in piano having attained Grade 7 with the Australasian Music Examinations Board.

 

Marie Huston   NZNSA  ITEC International
Make Up

We are very lucky to have secured the services of Marie, a highly regarded make up artist who has an extensive list of credits ranging from theatre, TV and film to opera, dance and fashion. Marie introduces our students to the basics of make up and special effects required for characterisation.

Always in demand Marie is the make up authority in Christchurch and currently works with many organisations including Showbiz and Southern Opera.
